Song of Peace from Bali

On the night of full moon December 3rd 2017 happened what the psychologist Carl Jung called as synchronicity (meaningful coincidences). News site liputan6.com posted burning news, quoting a US Senator Lindsey Graham who said "A nuclear war against North Korea is close". Especially because North Korea is ready for an intercontinental ballistic missile attack which can reach the US mainland".

At the same time, the UK-based website express.co.uk (home of the daily and sunday express) posted a very calming news story: "The eruption of Mount Agung Bali in 2017 will make the earth cooler for the next five years." The conclusion was made especially after a number of experts examined the volcanic materials sent by Mount Agung into space. In short, the accumulation of dusts and smokes sent by Mount Agung to the space will cover earth from the hot sunshine.

Every friend who watched the video of the Mount Agung eruption knows, black smoke appeared along with white smoke. Both emerged from the same peak of Mount Agung at the same time. The spiritual message to be conveyed is simple yet profound: "In all cycles of time there is black and white". To put it simply, in every turn of time there are setbacks and progress as well.

The Balinese elders had a recipe passed down to the following generations: "Rwa bhinedane tampi". In short, learn to embrace duality like bad-good, sad-glad and sorrow-joy in everyday life using the same smile. For the modern man who is accustomed to use the mechanistic left brain, which praises what is right, blaming what is wrong, the last approach is super difficult to accept.

But to be honest, this mechanistic left brain is what makes both North Korea and the United States potentially destroy the earth in a short time through nuclear war. Both of them consider themselves right. Both believe the enemy is wrong. On top of this dangerous belief, there is no choice but to destroy the party that is believed to be wrong. If they fail to stop the war, it is not only the enemy who is destroyed at the end, the whole planet earth can be destroyed.

That is why friends who studied the old science of mythology like Joseph Campbell, have long concluded that modern civilization which is at the gate of danger depends very much on the human left brain which is only a few thousand years old. While the more holistic right brain, used by the Balinese elders in this respect, is already millions of years old.

And the eruption of Mount Agung in 2017 tells the story clearly and very brightly, that both black and white, false and true were born from the same womb. In the world of meditation often mentioned, duality such as bad-good complete with a high wall that is separating the two, were born from a mind which is untouched by meditation yet.

The Balinese elders together with Mount Agung deeply understand, violence with all its forms may only end from earth, when human beings learn to embrace duality instead of contrasting duality. The Balinese elders not only understand this with the mind, but also understands it through action and attainment.

Some friends in Bali whose spiritual eyes are opened will understand, a lot of beings in the lower realms like to show themselves in Bali. Their faces vary from scary to threatening. With all respect to the other approaches, the elders of Bali give treats to these lower creatures. Establish an honorable home for them which are called penunggun karang. Certainly not because the elders of Bali worship the devil. Again it is not.

But by having a deep understanding through achievement, that both black and white are really the smile of the same perfection. Garbage today will become a beautiful flower on another day. Politicians who fight at a certain time will laugh at other times. It is similar to the cycle of water in nature. Water gutters that people hate today, will become drinking water on another day. That is why, Balinese elders celebrate the new year with the Nyepi holiday (silent day). Calling God as Hyang Embang (The Ultimate Silence). In the language of friends in the West: "No more words". There are no more things to explain. The only thing that remains is only one: "A very deep smile".
