"One who has light within meets light everywhere"
A deep longing for a well-trusted public figure, that's the profound longing of the younger generation of our time. If the scarcity of well-trusted public figures happen in developing countries, it is understandable. However, if the same thing happen in the well-developed countries , this is a deep sadness of our time.
A spiritual friend who has a beautiful heart was really surprised to know that there is a presidential candidate from the United States who use the threats against other religions as the theme of his campaign. The United States in general has long been the leader in democracy and human rights, but how come in such a well-developed country there is explicit threat in public space to the other's faith?
Whether you like it or not, whether you are sad or not, that's the cycle of our time. It is clear that there are fewer and fewer well-trusted public figure everywhere. It is also a clear that there is less and less light outside. At the same time, this is an invitation to rediscover the light inside.
Deeply learning from spiritual friends who open their secrets in meditation sessions, a lot of people who deeply miss the light of loving parents, many friends who deeply miss the light of close relatives who are ready to accept and forgive and there are some of problematic souls who deeply miss the light of close friends who have a willing listen. It is a kind of deep longing for the presence of external light.
Sadly, the harder these spiritual seekers ask the people outside to love, forgive and listen to them, the more they are disappointed because almost no one who is ready to do that. Many parents are very busy and very tired in dealing with their old age. Most close relatives are carrying the heavy burden of their family. Common friends are even worse, they will run away as soon as knowing that you have a big problem.
All of these problematic experiences lead many spiritual seekers to come into one choice, which is finding a savior inner angel. It is not an easy task for sure. But there is no other choice. In this dark age, where there is deep scarcity of external light, people are invited to find the internal light which is the most reliable light.
As a preliminary step, it is strongly advised to the inner seekers to forgive themselves. It does not matter how dark the past is, it is always healthy to forgive oneself. Forgiveness is not a sign that someone is weak inside. Instead, forgiveness is a trophy for the very strong souls. Only the one who is strong enough who have the capability to forgive.
After forgiving ourselves, it is healthy to learn to see the blessing sides of the experience. The blessing sides of parents who do not care, they train you to become an independent person. The blessing sides of close relatives who are hostile, they keep training you to be careful. The blessing sides of a grumpy boss, they keep making you become a much more patient soul by the day.
Once the seeds of light begin to appear inside due to the diligence to forgive and to accept, it is nice if you learn to smile. A smile is not only a bridge that connects you with people outside, smile is also a bridge that connecting you with the soul that deeply resides inside.
Anyone who diligently and sincerely practices like this, will one day find the scarcity of well-trusted public figures out side is no longer disturbing the soul inside. At the same time there is noble intention to become a torch that lightens the many. Quoting from Mother Teresa's beautiful words which might be very short, but the echo and the effects can be very long.
