Song of Sorrow

"Can deep meditation releases souls from all sorts of sorrow?", that's the question of many people in meditation sessions. Most friends who grow deep in meditation know, meditation does not stop karma. Meditation only increases one's ability to flow perfectly with each cycle of karma.

Before being touched by meditation, mind is similar to a small cup. Even when there’s a small movement in life, then mind will be full of noise like protest and complain. And by keep witnessing, slow but sure meditation makes mind broader and broader. That is why one of meditation Guru wrote that the peak of meditation is boundless capacity to suffer.

In this age people admire public figures like Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, HH the Dalai Lama until Mahatma Gandhi. They all grow at different places and traditions, but their lives are such bright after experiencing a very long and deep grief.

Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years, Mother Teresa of Calcutta grew in the midst of very sad suffering, HH the Dalai Lama lost his country in the age of fifteen, Mahatma Gandhi was shot. The symbolical message is simple, there are spiritual secrets that are hidden behind sorrow.

Anyone who run away from sorrow, they do not only lose the opportunity to be mature, they also lose the chance to be illuminated by beautiful spiritual light that is brought by grief. To be honest, grief brings some spiritual messages together.

First, grief is an invitation to make souls to be much more mature. As have been experienced by many mature souls, there's no maturity without sorrow. The second message that's brought by sorrow, it is an opportunity to pay the karmic debts. Without grief, souls will never be able to repay the karmic debt.

The third message of grief, it is a time to clean up the home of soul. Success, wealth, fame are similar to happy party. All parties have their own end. And after the party is over, all dirt and impurities must be cleaned. And grief is like broom, mop, water that can make soul home clean again.

Meditation is very helpful in this case. Before being touched by meditation, mind refuse any kind of sorrow. Some even refer to sorrow as the angry God. After deeply touched by meditation, mind will gently embrace every grief that comes.

Especially because of knowing that only by passing long and deep sorrow then one can grow spiritually. This is also the reason why a number of prophets also experiencing deep grief.

With this perspective in mind, sorrow is no longer part of soul’s tears. On the contrary, sorrow is part of soul’s songs. Not the ordinary song, but a song that brings souls back home.
