Poetry of Compassion

Not all sadness lead you to destruction. As long as you equip yourself with sincerity and honesty, some sadness can open the gate of enlightenment. This is the message that want to be delivered through the life story of a woman with a beautiful heart named Kinh.

One day Kinh married to a man who is the choice of her parents. Just because of her deep devotion to the parents, she enter the gate of marriage with goodwill. With all the obstacles, she loved her husband better than any average woman. But luck can not be pursued, misfortune can not be avoided. When the time come, they simply come.

In one afternoon when Kinh embroidering in front of the house, her husband was asleep in her lap. Seeing her husband's mustache which was too long, she took a pair of scissors to trim. But suddenly her mother-in-law came and thinking that she would kill her husband. Without giving any chance to argue, Kinh was immediately expelled without mercy from the house of her husband.

After experiencing such deep sadness, she did not want her devotion to the parents full of stains, Kinh then decided to disguise as a man by shaving her hair, and became disciple and servant on the path of meditation. And sincerity, honesty do not always make a person peaceful. Sometimes it even makes a person suffer.

In one evening, the only daughter of the richest people in the village where Kinh learned meditation insisted her to marry. Of course Kinh refused her because she was a woman. But the daughter of this rich family keep insisting. Being deeply dissatisfied with Kinh's refusal, this young girl had sexual relationship with her ​​maid, and after she was pregnant she declared to the villagers that the one who made her pregnant was Kinh. After her son was born, the son was handed over to Kinh without giving any chance to argue. 

Again calamity visited the life of Kinh. And as the previous disaster, she received the baby without any complain. In fact, to open the lie of the scandal was very easy. Kinh simply opened her secret that she was a woman, and the story will be ended. But it has become the main sign of the high level spiritual student not to run away from sadness. For that reason, again Kinh peeled the layers of sadness deeper and deeper. 

After her adopted son grow older, Kinh began to be old, then she wrote a secret letter that can only be opened when Kinh pass away. And in the time when Kinh died, the secret was opened, villagers suddenly know that Kinh was a deep and surprising meditation practitioner.

Only the one who dig such deep within, peel the layers of sadness deeper and deeper can open the beautiful secret within. And the peak of the beauty within, one can directly realize that deep sadness is important key to awaken the beautiful inner compassion. And quoting from the sacred teachings of Tantra, when someone like this die then mother nature will pay respect by the emergence of rainbow in the sky and small earth quake on earth.

And sure enough, when Kinh was cremated everybody were deeply cried. Some of them thought that Kinh was the reincarnation of Goddess Quan Yin. Goddess of compassion who always see the suffering of the world. It is like justifying the truth of holy book, at that moment a rainbow appeared in the sky, mother earth also move with a small earthquake. The message of this story is simple, the profound spiritual path is not a path of happiness. It is a path of peeling the layers of sadness deeper and deeper, until one day compassion fully bloom within.

Borrowing from the finding of psychologist Carl G. Jung, before attaining enlightenment someone will pass the dark nights of the soul. And the dominant sign of such dark nights is deep sadness. This story is relevant in our age, especially after witnessing that Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years, Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi were shot, Mother Teresa spent most of her life in the poverty of Calcutta,  His Holiness the Dalai Lama lost his country at the age of 15 years. The guiding message is simple, anyone who diligently open the layers of sadness and grief, they are not only able to enter the gate of enlightenment, but also can come into conclusion that life is a poetry of compassion.
