Meeting The True Guru

It is impossible to see the sun at night. It is also impossible to see the stars in the daytime. In the same way, without the abundant accumulation of merits (good karma), it is impossible to meet the true Guru. For that reason, there is no other choice for the true seekers except to accumulate as many good karma as possible.

That is why religions strongly emphasize the importance of kindness and goodness. Mainly because this abundant accumulation of merits will point out the direction where the true Guru live. There are many spiritual signs that indicating where the true Guru is.

Those who experience weak signs are interested in the true Guru through reading, stories that are shared by many people, or meaningful coincidences. Spiritual seekers who experience medium signs encounter the true Guru because of the strong inner determination, or the strong inner feeling that this is the right time to meet the true Guru.

True disciples who have strong signs are like Jetsun Milarepa. Simply by hearing the name of his master Marpa, the whole hair in Milarepa's body standing, suddenly he deeply crying, at the same time he had a very strong feeling that only by meeting the true Guru then soul can be purified and perfected.

It should be clearly and carefully noted then, meeting the true Guru is like meeting the sun. If someone are too close, they can be burned or blinded. When the spiritual seekers are too far from the true Guru, they can lose the light and losing the D vitamin as well. The signs that someone are burned because of being too close to the true Guru is simple, some seekers died, some students went crazy, some others had tragic accidents. The characteristics of person who are too far, life appear to be dark, there are confusion, worry, fear, anger everyday.

The following home works then is not simple for the true seekers, how to maintain the proper distance with the true Master. This task is of course very difficult. And back to the analogy of the true Master which is similar to the sun, carefully watch the inner signs every time you meet the true Guru.

Whenever you have the inner feeling of being too hot (by which read: you are easily get angry, offended, hurted), do not wait until you get skin cancer, go away from the true Master. In the moment when you feel deeply confused and dark inside, some seekers even heard a voice from inside to commit suicide, do not wait quickly meet the true Master.

It is not only meeting the true Guru one need to be very intelligence, one also should be very intelligent in the interaction with the true Guru. Never bring the manners from somewhere else to be used to interact with the true Master. At the university for example, students are given high marks because of being critical to the teacher. Being critical to the true Guru is the same as opening the door of disasters.

A number of school children use their teachers as materials of jokes. Using the true Master as materials of jokes equal to commit suicide. This can happen because wherever a true Master live and teach, in the four cardinal directions the True Guru is being guarded by the Dragon, Garuda, Lion, Tiger.

In summary, meeting the true Guru is indeed full of blessings. But where there are many blessings, there are also many sufferings. The message then, learn to be sensitive to read the inner signs. And when you are blessed, at the end you will realize that the true Guru dwells within.
