Lotus of Compassion

"What's wrong with the spiritual journey, why the deeper I grow spiritually then the more difficult and the more complicated life will be?", that is the question of many people. This is fully understandable, especially because life begins to enter a new territory that appears to be strange.

Learning from the stories of the saints, there are many souls who ever entered this gate. But very few of them who are able to pass the test. There are various types of shocks and tragedy in this spiritual tunnel. From the feeling of mismatch with one's partner, children who are very naughty, losing a job, the death of loved ones until being threatened by death.

As a result, some people run away from spiritual journey. They thought that spirituality is against the will of God. Only diligent and sincere heart who proceed the spiritual journey. Especially because sincere heart knows that grief is not punishment, grief is an important chapter in the book of peace which failed to be read by most people.

In a simple language, life is similar to beautiful music. Pleasure makes people enjoy the music, but only pain that makes them understands the lyrics (by which read: the meaning of life). Without passing through pain and grief, any soul will never grow deep.

On the path of enlightenment there is another analogy. Worldly life is very dirty. It is similar to the mud. Ordinary people can even sink. But the mud also has its own blessing. Any one who plants the seeds of lotus in the mud, they also meet beauty there.

Back to the initial question of profound sadness in deep spiritual journey, pain and grief are like dirty mud. However, as long as you keep planting the seeds of lotus there through spiritual practice, life can also evolve into the flower of enlightenment.

And meditation is one vehicle that can transform mud of grief into flower of enlightenment. Put it simply, meditation keep suggesting being a witness for every experience of life. Pleasure is like white clouds, pain is like dark clouds. And the witness is similar to blue sky.

Spiritual seekers who diligently practice like this will get two results at the same time. The first result is called wisdom, sometimes it is called silence. The second result is compassion.

Both are like a pair of soul wings. Once both wisdom and compassion are strong and balance, they both can make soul fly beautifully and freely. Sadness and misfortune may come, but they are only seen as the clouds that come and go.

This is called deep transformation through meditation. Spiritual travelers plant the seeds of lotus in the mud of sadness and misfortune. The meeting between the last mud and lotus seeds of meditation make life bloom into lotus of enlightenment. Not the ordinary lotus, but the lotus of compassion. The message is simple, the enlightened beings are here simply to share compassion.
