Excessive hostility against the body, that’s the characteristic of restless and sleepless souls. And the harder they fight against the body, the more trouble and calamity that comes. Especially because rubbish invites flies, mud invites worms, fighting inside the body and life invites more soul problems.
From such awareness came many ideas, not only the need to be a good friend of the body, but also to see your body as a soul messenger. Every spiritual friend who is sensitive to the bodies signs understands, the human body is an excellent body to spiritual growth. Long before the body gets sick, multiple layers of messages have been delivered.
As a conclusion, the body is not the enemy of growth, but an amazing vehicle of spiritual growth. In the old forest of Peru there is even an old holy book which mentioned that the human body is the peak of evolution. For that reason, it is understandable that all Buddhas attained perfect enlightenment while existing in a human body.
Under this light, let’s learn to read the messages of our body. The subtle signs of the body feeling discomfort. Once there is discomfort within, quickly return to the law of balance. If you spent most of the time sitting, learn to walk for example. If you are uncomfortable because of spending too much time in the crowd, enter the gate of silence.
In the West many friends have deeply studied the field of good mood food. Foods that help the mood to stay in balance. Whenever the mind is flat, the tongue is bland, especially if there is a whisper to commit suicide inside, quickly find food that can restore the mood. Chocolate, beans, coffee, tea, bananas are some of the choices. The important thing is to make the tasteless tongue quickly pass. Just remember to eat it in moderate amounts.
Doing the things you love in childhood is the next option. Whether singing, dancing, painting or writing. It is important that you reawaken the inner sparkle (inner joy). Sometimes eating ice cream is okay, or playing with children is also an option.
The next sign of the body to read is pain. It is an angel from within who invites you to quickly change. Friends who have epilepsy, reduce self-injury with guilt and self-blaming. Those who have a heart problem, quickly perfect love. He who have issues/problem with the liver, is invited to have a beautiful heart. If you have problems with the digestive system, learn to be more well-connected through a deep sense of thanks.
Through this approach, the disease does not kill. Instead it helps the soul to grow. Many humans are saved by this approach. In the West there is even a friend who developed the approach of post-traumatic enlightenment. Humans can be enlightened after trauma. In short, it is about transforming trauma into Dharma (sacred teachings).
Suppose there are friends who are late to know this teaching, already paralyzed by strokes for example, blind and deaf because of this and so, quickly learn to find a beautiful and peaceful home in the human body. Hellen Keller who could not see, has said: “I wonder why there are human beings who can see but they are not happy”. Original Indian mystic Kabir once shared about the human body like this: “I laugh, fish die of thirst in the water”.
That is why, the Compassion spiritual family has long shared the meditation approach of “accept, flow, smile”. Not only because all are the dances of the same perfection, but because these paths guide the spiritual friends to find the center of joy inside. The center of deep within the human body.
