The Meaningful Trails (20)

Whenever the conscious mind along with its logic and senses is not being helpful, ask for a help from the subconsciousness. When both are not much helping, meet your own higher and sacred self. That is what the old saying says. Sadly, only very few humans who have the ability to communicate with the subconsciousness. The number of people who are able to meet their Greater Self is even more less. In this regard, the book of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer titled "Your Sacred Self" can be used as a reference. The book is being written in a very popular way, thus makes it easy for an average person to understood. There are three pathways that being recommended. First, change the feeling of inadequacy in life with the feeling of abundance. Secondly, transform a sinful life into representing the face of a luminous soul. Third, evolve the strong desire to achieve more in life into a life free from desire. It might seems simple in words, yet living it, is far from easy. Moreover in the era where people in their everyday life are being tempted by advertisements and neighborhoods that sound this way: "You will be happier by having more". The results are clearly seen around us, the presence of anxious and restless souls that are really heart-touching are found everywhere. In the West, there is a finding of a researcher: "While in many developing countries people cannot eat because of being entangled in poverty, in the developed countries that economically wealthy the number of people who cannot eat is also significantly increased. Definitely not because of poverty, they cannot eat as of living in fear.”

It takes quite a long time for policy-makers to redefine the new directions of development. Yet, before the soul is being caught between the gasp of complexity, the lifestyle that focused only on materialistic things is worth rethinking. This book offers a practical advice: "Discard your doubts, minimize dramatizing your inner conversations, free your higher self from ego and selfishness. Then sit on its peak and be a compassionate witness.". A series of steps that in line with the teachings of meditation. Discarding doubts is indeed not an easy task for someone who is still living a happy life. Yet, in the moment when the body is being attacked by malignant cancer, the family is being splitted apart, or being financially broken, many friends then begin to seek for the Light of spirituality. The act of minimizing the dramatization of inner dialogues could be done in line with the growth of meditation. While to free the higher self from selfishness, it could be done by doing simple daily service tasks. And being a compassionate witness, that is the peak of meditation. Everything is just being witnessed with the eyes of S3 (smile, simply smile).

While some religions persuade human beings to start accessing the areas of the higher and sacred self with the frightening threat of hell and the tempting reward of heaven, for someone who has been sitting as a compassionate witness for a long period of time, everything goes naturally. Away from threats and fears, and also away from excessive expectations. As the natural nature of ocean that is full of waves, the natural nature of the soul who has been sitting as a compassionate witness is full of compassion. When most religions placed compassion as a dogmatic commandment, in this path, compassion is the flower of soul that blooms in a very sympathetic way. In shorts, let yourself grow according to your natural call, be it a worker or a housewife. And in the midst of this daily calling, train yourself to meet your higher and sacred self. In a simple yet profound language, learn to be happy by pleasing others.
