Wings of Peace

In one of question answer session in prison, a prisoner asked seriously: "is it true that meditation can make us fly?". When it was cultivated deeper, it turns out he wanted to fly away from the prison.

This is one sign of soul who is far from health. Do not talk about money and power, even spirituality wanted to be used
as a vehicle of crime. As a result, soul is restless and full of anxiety.

Wilhelm Reich in his book "Listen Little Man" wrote, soul can reach a state of health when a person lives in a
balance and loving way. And when soul live in doubt and fear, a person lose the energy to be healed.

For that reason, it is understandable when meditation suggest to be balance in the middle. Any kind of extreme movements - include extreme happiness - is suggested to be avoided. Under any circumstances, sad-glad, blamed-praised, sorrow-joy, it is always recommended to be back to the middle.

Through deep practice of meditation like this, one can attain what Wilhelm Reich called as a loving balance. It is similar to birds which can fly because of relying on both wings equally.

In the long path of meditation, this equilibrium state can be attained by continuously being a witness. Initially, one learns to be a witness of certain object such as breath (single awareness). Whatever happens, return to the middle and the object serves as an anchor that binds the mind not to go anywhere.

As one grows deep in meditation, practitioners learn to be a witness of both the object and the subject (double awareness). Not only object like breath which is witnessed, the one who experience sad-glad, sorrow-joy, failure-success are also witnessed. Again after witnessing one return back to the middle.

Practitioners of Tantra grow even further. Not only the object and the subject are witnessed, even the witness is being witnessed (triple awareness). Similar to the sun that makes snow melting, when these three (object, subject, witness) are witnessed, then all of these three melted in the ocean of silence.

Once these three are gone, by then soul has wings of peace. In the language of meditation, the left wing is silence, sometimes it is called wisdom. The right wing is compassion. At this point one can reach what Wilhelm Reich called as a loving balance. At the same time, soul is healed and whole as well.

That's why enlightenment means supreme health. Soul is healed and whole. At this stage, even the fear of death disappears. Quoting a spiritual heritage of Tibetan yogi: "to the enlightened, death is similar to the birth of baby eagle. Once the egg shell is broken soul fly".
