As soon as the five-day compassion day celebrations were completed on March 2nd 2018, it was very clear that the very close friends in the Compassion family were very exhausted, but their souls smiled in such a beautiful way. Their bodies were certainly tired, especially because they worked all out from morning, noon, afternoon until evening.
It is fully understandable, thousands of teenagers, adults and elderly have been served for five days. The most interesting thing in the kindergarten’s sessions in particular, whenever the children were asked: “Who is the strongest creature on earth?”. The kindergarten children simultaneously replied: “Mama and Papa”. The kindergarten children are intentionally directed to think like this, not only to help them growing respectfully, but also to help the family grow into a beautiful garden of souls.
In the teenagers sessions, their favorite message is like this: “Changing the bikes will not help much if someone cannot ride a bike, changing spouse will not help much if people have no capacity to love”. For that reason, teenagers were invited many times to sing the lyrics of the song: “Rasa sayange, rasa sayang-sayange …” (by which read: no matter what happens, never tired to love).
In some places, long-haired girls especially were given gifts. Especially to educate teenagers from the beginning to grow as natural as possible. Once a person grows in their natural place, she will end up like a frangipani flower that finds dry ground, like a lotus flower that finds a wet pool. With little effort, they will bloom into a beautiful soul.
Elderly friends were not less happy in this regard. In the villages of Sukawati and Tampaksiring, there were many elderly people who attended the sessions. The message that the elderly really appreciated is an invitation to sleep like a baby. Whenever the body calls to sleep, quickly sleep without much thinking. Once the body wakes up, wake up naturally.
In short, learn not to fight against the body, learn to be a close friend of the body. So that the body does not become a prisoner of the soul because it is often sick, otherwise the body can become the sacred place of the soul. Especially because in the human body stores many spiritual secrets. Heart disease as an example, it is a hint to perfect love. Liver disease as another example, it is an invitation to have a beautiful heart. One who often has a headache is asked to have less thinking more flowing.
In the midst of Compassion Day this time, a pair of teenage members of the Compassion family inaugurated their wedding. So there was a small party in the middle. One thing that made some friends surprised, some friends were allowed to drink beer. And on the next day the students were guided how to get rid of dependency.
To make the story short, all kinds of dependencies – from dependency on alcohol, drugs and sex – are caused because people think that the next sip is always better. After friends are taught to enjoy the “present sip” by holding the beer as long as possible in the mouth, like a mouthwash, some beer lover friends decided the beer that night was the last beer.
After very tiring five days, there was a very natural selection. Friends who are not close, are naturally unable to attend. Close friends partly collapse because of illness, or there is a close family member who is hospitalized. Companions who are very close, their bodies were very tired, but their souls smiled in a very beautiful way.
While the tired body is longing deeply for a rest, the smiling soul finds a restful home. The restful home of the soul is not in the future, after having this and that, but in the present moment which is very rich of a smile. To quote an old poem which was repeatedly shared at Compassion Day this time: “When I seek God, I find myself, when I seek myself, I find God”.
