Flower of Compassion

In the deep spirituality, people often talk about initiation. It is a transmission of energy and knowledge from teacher to student. And as other human activities, some initiations are successful some others fail.

The Valley

There are many forms of rituals are performed in initiation. With all respect to friends who strongly believe in rituals, the thing which is critical in ritual is the sacred teachings which are hidden behind. Without reading the hidden holy teachings and put the teachings into practice, all rituals will lose their charisma 


In the context of initiation, it is important for a student to be totally surrender. Without total surrender any initiation will never be perfect. The student's surrender is very similar to deep valley. Whatever that is thrown into the valley, it is accepted without any sound.

Sadly, with the rapid advancement of education, the glorification of intelligence, finding a student who can perfectly surrender is very difficult in this age. It is not entirely the fault of students, the presence of many fake teachers also worsen this situation. As a result, many initiations are ended with no transmission at all.

The Peak

Similar to flower which invites the coming of butterfly, the presence of a student who's totally surrender to the teacher also invites the presence of perfect teacher. Perfect teacher in this case consist of a living Guru, Holy Scripture, symbolical Guru, as well as the innermost secret Guru. Many people are trapped by the cycle of eggs and chicken. Is the disciple should be sincere first then the Master come, or the Master should be bright first then the students come.

In any circular problem, there must be courage to cut it. There are many thing secret concerning the Master, but a lot of things that can be opened about students. For that reason, let's start by training yourself to be sincere and honest in the front of Guru. Among the various options that are available, taking the essence of the teachings, and then put them in daily practice is the most recommended step.

This cannot be done in one year or two years, but it is a long and diligent work. One who diligently practice the essence of the teaching will be given some signs of who and where the Master is. It can be disclosed through dreams, one can cry simply by listening the name of Guru, one can discover the teacher's name or message on the internet or books, and then they are drawn by a powerful magnet. And there are some other ways. To make it short, the situation is similar to the valley that meet the peak. The students feel so low and small in the front of Guru, the Teacher appear to be high and radiant.

Great Mountain (Gunung Agung)

A close friend who already meet the four Gurus share his experience, the sequence of meeting the four teachers is unique and cannot be compared. Some begin with the living Guru, some others start it with symbolical Guru. And whatever the sequence, the closer ones to the Teacher the closer they are to the inner silence.

A kind of silence which always guide that all are perfect as they are. The fishes are swimming in the water, the birds are flying in the air. Both follow the different paths, but both are perfect as they are. Similar to human history, even at the time of the Prophet there were evil. There's always devil and divine in each age. The devil is not the enemy of the divine, devil is an evolving divine. Both devil and divine are perfect as they are. This is exactly what happens when the valley (students) meet the peak (Teacher), life is suddenly transformed into a great mountain. In Bali it's called Gunung Agung. The only thing that left after this is perfection.

And any souls who have meet the light of four Teachers, it is not possible to them to walk on the path of darkness. It is similar to expect honey to be salty, or ask rabbit to eat meat. The nature of the souls who are touched by the light of Guru is soft and luminous. And from this valley of light then flower of compassion bloom. A series of compassion which expecting that all creatures will meet the same light.
