"You are free to choose, but you are not free to the consequences of
your choice", that is the message which is often heard in the world of
decision making. When it comes to life in particular, any decision have
consequence, some even make life more complicated from time to time. One who
make decision with dirty mind will experice dirty life as well.
That is the reason why the wise often deliver a message like this: "Do
not ever make a promise when you are too happy, do not ever make important
decisions when you are deeply sad". Especially because when emotions are
extreme, the mind is far from clear and clean.
In the moment when the mind is far from clear and clean, any decisions will
make life more complicated from time to time. And all important decisions are
recommended to be made when the mind and the emotion are perfectly balance in
the middle.
That is why one meaning of meditation is an art to always come back to the
middle. When the mind is too chaotic or too peaceful, learn to be back to the
middle. When emotion is too sad or too happy, learn to be back to the middle.
It is similar to tune the strings of guitar. If the strings are too tight, it
can be broken, if the strings are too loose, it does not produce any sound.
